SA T20 franchise Joburg Super Kings have appealed for testing of Phangiso’s action under laboratory conditions at an ICC-accredited centre. Taking action on his bowling, the SA T20 panel has suspended Aaron Phangiso.

Joburg Super Kings spinner Aaron Phangiso has been suspended from bowling in SA20, South Africa’s franchise-based domestic T20 tournament, after raising questions over his bowling. The 39-year-old South African international spinner has been punished after it was confirmed by SA20’s independent Bowling Action Panel. Phangiso is accused of not conforming to the rules of legal bowling action as defined by the International Cricket Council. Phangiso has represented South Africa in 21 ODIs and 16 T20 Internationals, taking 26 and 20 wickets.
The SA T20 panel submitted its final report on 23 January. Explain that SA20 was formed under the Suspect Bowling Action Policy. SA20 said in a statement on Tuesday that ‘reports have confirmed that Aaron Fungiso was bowled with a non-compliant action during the match between Joburg Super Kings and Pretoria Capitals on 17 January at Wanderers in Johannesburg. As a result, the SA T20 panel suspended Phangiso from bowling in SA T20 matches from 23 January onwards.
Joburg Super Kings have requested to test Aaron Phangiso’s action under laboratory conditions at an ICC accredited centre. If the ICC test shows that his action is correct, he will be allowed to continue bowling.
